- About me
-
I'm 28 years old, born and grown up in Germany, worked there as a lawyer, became bored, started a successful online business, became bored, and now I'm traveling, living in different parts of the globe and following new passions, like photography.
Right now I'm staying in Venice, California for 2 months.
My goal in photography is not to create highly polished "clichee" glamour shots, but to capture the models personality. That is why I often shoot in burst mode -- because the most natural glimpses into someone's personality often happen in between deliberate poses.
My last client was so happy with her photos that she keeps asking me to do a music video for her (she's a singer here in Los Angeles).
I have professional equipment specifically for outdoor shooting, and this is what I'm here for. I want to find models who are interested in shooting at beautiful locations in the L.A. area. This can be the beach, the Venice Canals or more exotic locations like a canyon or a desert.
As a model, you get to keep all the pictures, and I won't use them anywhere without your consent. Right now, I'm only here to gain experience, make the best out of the surroundings during my stay, and build my portfolio.
You get access to the pictures usually within 24 hours of the shoot. We created them together, so they are as much yours as they are mine.
ABOUT BEING "PROFESSIONAL"
I don't believe in the whole "separation of the professional and the personal" thing. This is crap from the 1950s when you could show different faces to different people without the need of true personal integrity. You can do that if you're a lawyer. But photos are about BEAUTY:
Any photo that I can shoot that is beautiful is so because it is a glimpse into the beauty of you as a human being. And so, I can only shoot beautiful pictures of you if I as a person find you beautiful, which is both from within and from without. And you, too, can only create pictures that are truly beautiful with me if you feel a connection to me. Yes, you need to know your body and I need to know my camera. But apart from that, if you want to create something beautiful, there's nothing "professional" about it.
When we shoot together, then my job is to get out of the way of your true self, and to capture your soul, your essence. It really doesn't get much more personal than that.
"The photographer has to go directly to where a person exists, to enter her private theatre or her essential reality, with all of its vulnerability. He has to become one with the drama unfolding before him -- and sometimes with the angueish and terror that is a part of it. Kindness is the key, and it is extraordinary that when the key is turned, much more than the simple game of appearances opens up to us. Suddenly the person and all that surrounds them take on greater meaning, as though a light were shining from within." (Hans Namuth, Los Todos Santeros)
