The walls gave in. Someone had opened the gates to her personal hell. It was an unprecedented spectacle, everything seemed to happen at once, everywhere, and over and over again. Her senses went into overdrive, as she tried to process what was happening. It was as if they had opened Pandora’s box, but instead of filthy little creatures, this infestation came for her in form of unreal noise, exploding colours burning her retina, and terror rushing through her insides straight into her heart.
The walls were gone, the canyon in the dunes had dissolved and if it still was here, she couldn’t have sensed the Guardian anymore. They were drowning her, all her lies, all the small and nasty betrayals she had committed in her life, reeking of resentment and envy. Every poor sentiment she ever had thought, every small curse she ever had whispered crawled up her spine now, like cold rain falling upwards. Pain and disgust were racing through her veins like acid. Finally, it arrived in her head, deep and tenacious hatred. She hated everything, she hated herself, she hated what she had done to herself, what she had done with her life, what she had done to others. She was as vile and evil as a person could get. The hatred was so corrosive that it brought her to her knees. The chaos was raging in her core, and when she felt it taking over the last piece of her soul, she could hear the Guardian’s words.
“Receive your last judgement today, for it shall determine your spirit rising or falling for your demons.”
