Location: Amersfoort, The Netherlands (2014). An experienced freelance model from Canada, Juliana Kaye reacted on one of my casting calls in Ireland during the summer of 2013. Juliana was under the impression that I was living in Ireland. This was not the case so we had no opportunity to work in Ireland but fortune was on our side. It turned out that Juliana would visit her mother in the Netherlands within a few months and we arranged a duo shoot. The mother is also called Juliana and it was interesting to see the contrast in their posing styles. It worked out great in many photos and this was one of the best. Neither of them wears glasses full time in daily life as there is no need. Here mother and daughter are wearing glasses of minus twelve. This photo shows how using the massive blur created by the strong glasses can attribute to the expression instead of being a handicap. The understanding mother gives her full attention to her frustrated daughter who was just rejected for a role as an actress because of her strong glasses. The mother is reassuring her daughter that there is nothing wrong with her looks in strong glasses. In a way, this photo is a metaphor of the entire project. It is my intention to show that a lady can look gorgeous in glasses, even if the glasses are stronger than what we usually see in the streets.
