sorry for keeping you waiting for my answer so long!
You're right, we're quite close in agreeing. Only it seems that we have different perceptions about what we perceive as "boring". For you it's the ever returning picture of a single woman in a heap of stone, steel and concrete, for me it's the attempted "functionality" of a woman with regard to the surroundings. It's just as you said: Add a certain element of surprise to the composition, and it's neither "milked out" nor "functional" - and both of us are happy :-)
I'm too lazy to provide a translation now, so Robert K. - would you please??
