Hi Caligula,
I think I would understand a bad written German also, but I think I would have no chance to understand Dutch! ;-)
First of all you have posted you thread in the wrong section, I believe.
I think you are right with your opinion. I think in the same way, but I have stopped to wonder about it. There are a lot of people that call themself "photographer" and really think that they make great pictures.
It is like everywhere, there are a lot of black sheeps and only a few white ones.
I don't call myself a photographer. Photography is one of my hobbies and I am in the beginning with the hobby. I try to develop this hobby and learn more and more about it (but of course not really here I think). I don't find the time to convert all the ideas I have.
There are some other "photographer" which snap all over the years the same shit again and again and they are proud of it.
So life and let die. Which can better satisfy others then the quality of your photos, because photos have got their own speech...
I hope my English is well enough that you understand me. I think it a very bad English ist better for you then a good German.

Well, it's not the photographers I'm worriing about... everyone has to learn, but what's bothering me especially is the agencies... some of them pretend to be a professional organisation, but the pictures they show in the modelling profiles, show the contrary... unoriginal, out of focus pictures, often not sharp and lighting terrible. Some pictures even offensive for the model. A terrible example : I've seen some pictures of a 'BBW' (Big Beautiful Woman), 'PlusPlus' or however to call it model, a woman with a bit more bodyweight then most other models. I know (because I've seen it... to me personally it would be a challenge beyond my capabilities) that it's possible to make beautifull pictures of such models, also partial or complete nude... but the agency choose to show some plain frontal nude pictures to terrible for words... To me it's a matter of disrespect for the model. Another example : A beautifull girl photographed so unsharp (so maybe she's not beautifull after all, but I've still the idea she is), that it -again- was NO way to present a model. An agency shoud REPRESENT a model and I hope that many wannabee models read this and are critical about the agency they choose (or even better, choose no agency at all, but that's another discussion).
BTW, it it's not 'on topic' in this category, I hope Ronin can move it to the right category :))
@JKL-Foto : Well, I understood your english very well :)

Hello Caligula,
I agree with you and I have also the opinion that in the agency scene are a lot of unserious suppliers! Their shown pictures are frightening to see partly. But the unloving sedcard-pictures are the result of the avarice. These agencies want to earn money from both à‚– from the photographer and from the models! I suspect that these agencies deceive not only the models with false promises; they also serve the market for pornographic pictures with the help of the naive model.
I have got irritated enough now!
Greetings to Holland (occur to me, I must absolutely visit Amsterdam again!)

is it possible that you wouldn't find as much models as needed in the market? maybe thats the reason for such bad pictures?

Also due to a recent upload of pictures of a certain agency (I give no names... since the agency probably isn't even worth naming) I finally decided to post a small post about my personal irritation on many portfolio sites, including this one.
I noticed that there are more and more agencies who absolutely do NOT care about their models... not how they look (some models are beautifull, some not, but everyone should have a chance), but how they present themselves. Recently again an 'agency' uploaded a complete batch of models and picture where the pictures have a quality to make a photographer weep.... unsharp, lighting terrible and completely unoriginal. Some of those girls really are real beauties, but on the pictures they look like the pictures : completely uninteresting. Is it really so much when you start an agency at least to be interested in the principles of photography ? And if not, to leave the making of the pictures to some experienced photographer ? Pictures that amateuristic make serious photographers think the models are as amateuristic as the pictures. A suggestion to all agencies : If you do not have the skills to make good pictures, look around in this (or another) database with PHOTOGRAPHERS in your or the models region and suggenst TFP sessions to the photographer... I'm sure many of them would be willing to do it and it would do more justice to your models presentation.
