I am back on MK after some years break, and especially now when trying to fill my photo tour, I see SO MANY really really amazing photographers, who have sed-card full of photos which are simply bad. And not because they shoot bad, just because they often lack the skills or patience to finish the photo.

Most common issues i see:

1) wrong focus or straight blurry photos
2) bad upload. Must be wrong export or something, jpeg artifacts, etc
3) ok I get when someone loves SOOC, but there are simply many photos which with just a bit of love can look awesome. Fit the light, remove that one pimple which hits straight in the eye, you forgot shoe in right corner, etc. We do art, not a documentary. It is not a shame to touch photos a bit here and there.
4) color balance. Ok again, can be your style, but if your style is drastically "wrong" do not expect "mainstream" people to react positively.
5) bad self portrait - again, if you do not care about how you look - communicate on your profile picture, it is first impression after all
6) 100s of explicit nudes with various models, no great portraits or art photos. Yea we get it, you can pay a model to open legs for you, but are you happy with your results or shoot just to see girls naked?

(and yes, I am aware I make 100s of mistakes my self, but I never asked for a free shoot)

Do you wonder why you get no TfPs? Guys this is what models want, a finished photo. When you show unfinished work, regardless how good it is, you get no TfPs. Especially in nudes.
For paid work, I am able to make a lot of exceptions, because well it is me working for him, he better make sure it has value for him.

I'm sorry to tell you this here, but your photos aren't much better... So I'm of the opinion that you're not in the right position to criticize like this.

So my advice is to upload better pictures first and then we'll see.

Well Elsi Spring your photos are with few exceptions (which were likely done on purpose like that) really awesome. So at least you are allowed to talk about it.

I believe am in the right position to constructive critique.
First because I am here as a client, my photography jobs are irrelevant here.
Second I believe my photos are better than 50% of photographers present here.
Third I believe that constructive criticism, especially from potential customer is always helpful.

I'm glad to have the permission... However, I don't take these pictures, I stand in front of the camera as a model. That's another difference.

Honestly, I think you think a little too much of yourself and I personally find your post absolutely cheeky. But that's just my opinion. Furthermore, you are not purchasing a service here and are not entitled to any particular quality. MK is a community and the money you pay only buys you more features.

Maybe some photographers will be grateful for this “criticism”. But I don't think anything will change much.

That is not the point. And definitely didn't want to appear cheeky or nose up. More like a friendly advise to many colleagues (since I am a photographer too) to just finish their own job. The fact that we should be afraid to tell our opinion (even you rather attack me instead of being productive) tells me models would never tell real reason they wont accept TfP. And with amount of photographers complaining about models being money hungry - i felt obligated to say something. I would love to do TfPs and I did more than paid shoots (for many reasons).

Again, I can do what I want since I am here as a customer / model, not as a photographer. My photographer portfolio is here only to use for reference when I book collabs with other girls. I shoot mostly couples erotica, collabs, not really interested in traditional photography clients. Had enough of that.

And T | BICHLER - Workshops & Coachings so should sedcard look like. Amazing portfolio, you definitely were not the one I was talking about.

And as a photographer I do not do TfPs. I always pay or do collabs.

1) Because here are still more good photographers than bad ones
2) Because when it is a pay job, I do not really all that much care about what photos I get (as I expect not any or many).
3) Again, I am not calling my self awesome photographer, I am calling photographers to take more care of what they put on the portfolio especially when they DM about TfPs or complain here on many forum entries about models wanting too much money for shoots, refusing TfPs etc.

i don`t see any problem with the main post, off course there are many many terrible images floating around in the MK...its obvious, so don't kill the messenger ;)

On the other hand: it's all about talent and ambition, if someone lacks one or either of those points, You`ll get the images described in the first post. And since everyone is free to decide for him or herself what appears on a sedcard...in many cases those are the finished images.

and I don't see what's so difficult to understand here, what YulieArt describes in #10 is not new knowledge. She`s mainly a model, so if she would be interested in more TFP...maybe some people should read a little closer here what she has to say.

I think YulieArt is absolutely right with point of view. Nice to hear that from a model!

I can't convince the models with hundreds or thousands of such "unfinished photos". Which model would be interested in a bunch of crap?

Wie Portraitgraf anmerkt, kann die TO doch deutsch? Auf der deutschen Plattform antworte ich darum entsprechend.

Ich sehe gravierende Widersprüche in ihrem Eröffnungsbeitrag. Die Rede ist von wirklich tollen Fotografen, deren Fotos einfach schlecht sind.... weil ihnen die Fähigkeit fehlt. Als Beispiele werden u.a. genannt: Falscher Fokus, unscharfe Fotos.... . Macht das tolle Fotografen aus?

Und Elsi hat mit ihrer Kritik auch nicht unrecht. Selbst wenn Yuli, wie von ihr eingewandt, auf vielen Bildern das Model ist und diese nicht selbst fotografiert hat, sollte sie ihre Maßstäbe auch auf eigene Bilder anwenden.

Das alles soll meine Freude an ihren Bildern nicht schmälern, da gefällt mir auch das eine oder andere Bild sehr.

I think it is international not just German platform, many models who do not speak German here as well. I do, so gladly answer in German.
And to your question, i just see really many photos which have AWESOME potential, but simply are like random dump from Lightroom. Needs really just few curves in LR, better crop, remove some disturbing things, fix makeup or so. That is what i meant by amazing photographer who just appear lazy.

For example with you Pixelworx Photography - mit Studio DIE Fotolounge your portfolio is so sick awesome, but still have few photos which makes you head scratch, like this one



But that doesnt matter because you have 100s of amazing ones and many more of such which needs just a touch up.
For example, adjust the body shape a bit (not so flattering pose), retouch the extreme where the color is not so smooth and you have instead of very good photo, GENIAL photo.

I was more talking about photographers who have majority of photos with great potential, but simply unfinished, or plain out bad. I can gladly make an example for you, what I mean, but again it is not a case of you. With you I would without a single doubt do TfP.

Nein - der Anteil ist nach wie vor hoch und hat meiner Meinung eher mit Vertrauen, Respekt und Ehrlichkeit zu tun als mit guten oder schlechten Fotos.
